What British Columbia's public drug programs cover for contraception and menopause hormone therapy (HRT — clinically, menopausal hormone therapy or MHT), sourced from the province's own program pages.
Contraception
FreeFree at the pharmacy since Apr 2023.
FREE for all BC residents enrolled in MSP. Started as BC's own program April 1, 2023 (pills, IUDs, implants, rings, injections, emergency contraception — $0 at pharmacy, no dispensing fee); continued/expanded under federal-funded Plan NP (National Pharmacare) since March 1, 2026.

Menopause hormone therapy (MHT / HRT)
FreeFree at the pharmacy since Mar 2026.
FREE since March 1, 2026 under Plan NP (National Pharmacare). No Special Authority required for covered MHT; pharmacists cannot charge for the medication or any associated dispense/assessment; dispenses don’t count toward the Fair PharmaCare deductible/family maximum.
